Sharpening

A straight fork is a good thing

There's nothing more frustrating than a tool that just wont cut.  Dull tools are hazardous and really decrease your efficiency. As a bladesmith, I 'll create  the finest edge possible for you.

I offer sharpening of nearly all knives and garden tools

I use only traditional hand-honing and sharpening techniques, learned over 40 years of sharpening, to create that smooth, polished cutting edge that makes your knife a joy to use.  While convenient for the machine operator, power-sharpening does not produce a smooth, lomg-lasting edge.

I use power-driven machinery only to remove deep nicks and make repairs that would be too time consuming to do by hand.

I clean and lubricate all garden tools in conjunction with sharpening, so your tool is returned to you ready to go!

Various kitchen knives

is it worth it?

I'm occasionally asked by customers" is it worth it to have knives repaired"

Usually, it is a good idea.   A nick repair will require the edge to be ground back to the depth of the nick and resharpened.  In most cases, this costs about $30.00-$40.00.  A quality chef knife will easily cost over 125.00 to replace.

I have also repaired many "heirloom" knives that people wanted to use in their kitchens.  This has involved replacing handles as well.

I offer full estimates before any repair work is done, so you will be able to decide beforehand.

I also sharpen on-site and have served the culinary community for nearly 15 years.
